"Upmarket rustic. We (two friends) stayed just one night but could easily have done another night. Great accommodation if you are a bigger group. Comms were good. We were a little unsure about the check in but used a bit of commonsense. Heavy rain prevented us making more of the outdoor space. "

"Beautiful vacation home! Love all the indoor AND especially the outdoor spaces. Family had plenty of room to spread out and not be all over each other. View of the lake was beautiful and the neighbor sheep kept us entertained! Really like the pull down plastic shades outside. They protect your first outdoor space. "With this house you get an awful lot of dampness along side all the wonders of a beautiful bush setting, and fantastic morning bird song. There are dehumidifiers downstairs that barely take the edge off the appalling damp, moldy smell down where the lower bedrooms are. Even the upstairs bedroom was more musty than I would expect for a quality bach. When we arrived the hot water hadnt been turned on, and its really hard to get someone from Bachcare to answer the phone, so it took a while to get...

"We loved staying in this private bach. It was a great base for day walks at Whakapapa and surrounds, nice walks in the area too. We'd love to come back in the summer and enjoy the lake too."

"Our over all stay at the property was great apart from being cold, the property would need a heatpump down stairs also the Fire place upstairs being in the wall is not enough for the size of the property hopefully something is done for the next winter."

"The property was just as advertised. We had such a pleasant stay. Everything we needed is available. The bed was nice and comfy. It felt like our home away from home. The location was pretty handy too. It wasn't too far from either ski field and was so close to Turangi for groceries and gas. It's a shame we didn't stay longer and the weather wasn't so great. We could have explored the lakeside and surrounding areas more! Definitely worth a come back!"

"Had a great time relaxing here over the weekend, location was perfect for those of was wanting a trip up the mountain and the spa was there for those who wanted to stay in the warmth. The only issue we had was bookabatch not informing us of the code to access the house, we had to call the help centre for crucial info. Wasnt a dealbreaker though, we will definitely stay again given the chamce. "

When I could break through the AI chatbot that VRBO provides for feedback the owner was responsive and helpful. When I return to this property I will seek out the owner directly and cut out VRBO. "Nice place to stay for the night, -- mind your head when you are upstairs. A shame that it's not facing west to take advantage of the evening sun. Even so, very warm -- the fan was definitely needed."

"On theFriday, it was a pleasure and delight to walk into a clean, modern, haven on a hilltop overlooking the Forgotten Highway.After an amazing Saturday on the railway carts and jet boats of Forgotten World Adventures on it was a lovely place to return to."

Excellent Condition

"Friendly Host. Excellent condition. Other than the location, everything else was good. Comfortably houses my family of 7pax. The unit cones with almost everything. However, there was insufficient chairs for 7pax as booked. Nice scenery from the rooms. Unfortunately the trial to the lake was closed."

Fantastic upscale hostel/motel

"I cannot say enough good about this place! Wonderful service, comfortable room with private bath/shower, great breakfast buffet (extra), bar, & restaurant (reserve your dining time early). Plenty of free parking. Our room looked out directly at the volcano with a sliding door walk out patio. Also, great location. We had planned to leave a vehicle at each end of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing but they counseled us that there is a 4 hr time limit after which you are likely to get towed, so we bought a round trip shuttle. Good to have the heads up!"

"Great stay. It took a little while to get used to the fact that this property is unmanned but it actually worked very well. Check in was easy. The kitchen was well stocked. The shower pressure was great - although the shower is protected only by a curtain so not super private but wasn’t an issue. The bed was comfy. We stayed in a private room which even had a smart tv! Hostel luxury! Would definitely recommend. It is in the middle of nowhere but easy to access Whakapapa village and the other attractions in the area"
