"This is a small family run hotel and resturant. The owner is the chef, and the food is excellent. He has an extensive wine list, so if you are a connoisseur of wine- then this is the place for you! The resturant is amazing, beautifully lit with candles. The owner is a lovely person, and made my partners birthday weekend one which we will not forget. "Decided to splash out on a high spec room as an Easter Stamford treat...as the reviews say, the Crown is a nicely laid out bar/restaurant with rooms at the heart of town.. Dont like to criticise as the place is obviously run with pride but I will add a few comments.. Having booked a top room (at nearly £200)which pictured a bedroom roll top bath with a character town view - i was initially given a fairly small room with shower. This was changed on request to a larger room with bath but still no view..despite looking boutique in the pictures the decor is actually pretty dated, and an internet TV would be more handy in this price range.The lighting in the bathroom was also brighter than the sun! There was also quite a bit of noise, intially from bar music below up to 9pm then from revellers in the street for longer, which i guess could be expected given the location. As a party base for later drinkers its fine but it didnt quite turn out to be the tranquil base that I was hoping for.. "

"A beautiful property with bags of charm. It was very well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our hosts had left a lovely welcome basket and texted to make sure we had everything we needed. Well placed for visiting Rutland water and exploring the local area. It didn’t bother us but one thing to consider if you have light sleepers in your party: Inevitably as an old property the upstairs floors creak a bit which some may find disturbing."

"Lovely pub/hotel with lots of old world charm. Clean and comfortable in a great location. Stayed for Sunday lunch which was excellent. Bedroom was spacious and had everything you could need. My only very slight negative was the traffic noise, as our room was at the front. "

The owners have given thought into the hotel with fantaictic wine glasses, snug kettles, Dyson hairdryers. The food is delicious and having ate at p"
