"This place is close to a lot of things. The only thing is that the pool is dirty and it’s loud at night. It’s close to the main road, so you’ll heard all the neighbor dogs barking at night. Our room had a foul bathroom smell- when we closed the bathroom door it was contained and wasn’t bad. Other than that it’s a great place to stay. The staff, the location is great. "

I’m leaving this review to tell people to probably use Hostelworld to book this property because this is actually an old account. I booked through it and Mike was nice enough to honour it but I would not book through this channel if I were interested in staying at this property. "Hotel Sol is an excellent choice to stay when visiting the Panajachel area. Unlike many other places in the area, the building is secure, very clean, the rooms are big, the shower (hot and cold water) actually works, and the staff are attentive and helpful. Although the hotel is in the periphery of Panachel, for less than $1 (5 quetzales) you can hop into a tuck-tuck and go anywhere in Panajachel. I have stayed in several places in the area and Hotel Sol is my number one choice."
