"This well equipped, cosy cottage is exactly as the photos show. Everything you need to enjoy your stay, whatever time of the year. Great base to explore the Alentejo. Montoito is small but there's a supermarket, bank, bread shop and a couple of local bars."

"A lovely, cosy Alentejo style cottage situated in a rural area surrounded by vineyards, cork and olive trees. Everything was as described in the listing and the local property manager was lovely and made the check-in and check-out process seamless. A nice welcome basket was awaiting us of local wine, cheese and bread. Sadly, the view of the fields from the back patio was blocked by overgrown vegetation during our stay. "It was a great place in order to discover the beautiful areas of the region of Portugal. The village is very quiet and the people are charming, but the bakery opposite would bake in the evening which could mean smoke coming into garden if the wind was in the right direction. Despite this I would definitely stay again. Natalie was very good at arranging the pre-stay information. "

"What an amazing time we had in Orvalhos! The house sits on a hill where it overlooks the Alentejo plaines. In the mornings , the sounds of bells and birds always made me happy. The locals are just as nice! The house was very clean and it had all we needed. We kept it warm by using the fireplace every evening. "The host Miguel was extremely kind, professional, helpful and responsive to our group of 6 adults. We stayed at this dream property for 13 nights and would have stayed longer because it had everything we wanted, and was located in a perfect spot for visiting historical sites, and for shopping for our meal items as well as for handcrafts. "Who wouldn't want to stay in a cottage at the foot of a castle? This was an AMAZINGLY beautiful hotel on the side of a steep hilltop, right beside a medieval castle. IT was so peaceful and serene! the view out over the valley was breathtaking. It felt like we were at a retreat, in all the best ways. Our room was simple but well equiped, clean and full of character. The electrical connections and wifi met the needs without being intrusive to the character of the room. Breakfast was simple but completely adequate - and it fit in with the character of the property. There was nothing at all that needed to be changed for this property. We would LOVE to go back again and highly recommend it."

Great for romantic getaway or for a family trip

"We loved our stay here - a one night get away from our 2 year old who we left with the grandparents. Though once we arrived I had wished he was with us, as there was such an incredible kids program on offer. Even though the place is clearly very kid/family friendly, it still has a beautiful inviting grown up feel, definitely something for everyone. The food was good, the indoor pool lovely, the grounds are peaceful. We'd consider coming back for a proper family holiday in the future."

"Overall this was an excellent stay for us. Great jumping off point to explore the Alentejo region. Is as listed, very homey and comfortable. The only issue we had was check in. Once this was resolved, Paola was wonderful."
