"Porta de Castro was a wonderful stay. The only thing is if you want quiet, the street it is located on is busy and quite a bit of honking. Didn’t bother me, popped in some ear buds at night. The breakfast and staff were amazing!!! I felt very welcomed and the staff helped me with any questions, plus lots of suggestions on what to do in the areas. Very convenient to walk to almost any place, including the train station. "

"Property (building) is older, as can be expected in downtown area of Palermo. Rooms were overall clean but could use a little updating. Breakfast on the terrace was beautiful. Staff was friendly and very helpful! "

"What a great place. Big beautiful rooms with an old elevator/ lift that made it extra special and unique. The hosts are fantastic and very helpful. Wonderful light breakfast each morning ( great coffee and croissants) which you can eat in your room or in the main area. The bed is very comfortable, bathroom is a good size but the pipes make a pretty loud noise when you use any water. My only complaint is that even with the windows and shutters closed it is still noisy. People on the street...

"We arrived after dark via the airport shuttle bus, coming from stays in Bologna and Venice, and upon the very first impression, the neighborhood by the bus terminal and train station felt a bit worn and slightly sketchy. But once we got into the room, which felt comfortable and grand at the same time due to the sheer volume of space (I don’t know how high the ceilings are, but it felt like 20 feet) and got onto the Wi-Fi, we found a great local restaurant and had a wonderful dinner. "There was no at the reception desk. The property manager accused me of lying about my kids because there were 2 single beds joined but we were 3 people. My daughter had to sleep in the middle of the 2 beds . The pillows were uncomfortable . There was 1roll of toilet paper. I had to go buy my own. I had no internet service. The kitchen was somewhat clean but you could see their storage room that was messy Nd made kitchen aesthetically unappealing. The night table and desk shelf was dusty ."

"Great stay. We arrived to a warm greeting after a much delayed train trip. Reception gave us good advice on places to visit, eat, get groceries. I left my ipad behind and they contacted me immediately so I hadn't left the station. Great service."

"Excellent hotel. I have a gluten sensitivity and am also a diabetic on a blood sugar sensor. I am nearly impossible to feed. There were abundant gf options on the breakfast buffet, and I was also able to get a hot gf breakfast prepared for me. The omelets were delicious, and I could get a cappuccino every morning, all included. The wait staff was knowledgeable about gluten and kept me safe. I got a hot stone massage at the hotel spa. It was excellent, and inexpensive. In general, the hotel is beautiful, and architecturally interesting. My room was very comfortable, and the view from my room is in the hotel brochure. I highly recommend this hotel."

A haven in the middle of Palermo

"The hotel was centrally located. It's a grand old building with beautiful marble decor and glorious chandeliers. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant was a delightful fine dining experience at a good price. "

"Fantastic boutique hotel/BB. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and the welcome was great. Our room was large, clean and well appointed. We were overlooking the street below, with a cute balcony. Noise levels were fine, even with live music and a vibrant nightlife on the doorstep (just make sure you close the door properly!) We'll be back to Palermo, and we'll be back to Boutique B&B Vintage too! "
