"The Inn was in a quiet village near Hawkshead. The dinner and breakfast menu and food served was really good and tasty. The room facilities were ok - but a lot of noise from the people in the room above walking around. "

"Nice hotel - good food, doggy super-friendly (even meals and ice-cream) - car park huge but not in peak times - only negative was the walls a little thin but nothing major. Distance to carnforth, lancaster and morecambe fine. Lovely people. "

"Adequate room, comfortable, great food, loads of parking, unfortunately I left before breakfast and allthough I was offered to use the breakfast room for toaster I think a few more options would have been welcomed. Overall no real issues, young lady behind the bar was very helpful and curteous."

"We checked in to this beautiful old inn, and were greeted by owner Johnathan, we were shown to our room and told if we needed anything just ask. Being the winter the kitchen is closed Monday and Tuesday which Johnathan apologised for, we replied it’s absoulutly fine. He told us of the local Chinese just up the road and said please feel free to bring it back to our room to eat, which we did. Excellent Chinese takeaway. We slept like logs and woke to have full breakfast that Jonathan cooked which...

"Fabulous weekend away with our dog at The Brown Horse. The staff here are fabulous. From check in to check out efficient and friendly. Praise must go to the restaurant and bar staff for just being so professional and friendly. The chef here knows how to cook with a spin on pub classics. Highly recommended. "

"We stayed for two nights with our dogs. We absolutely loved our stay. Rooms super comfortable and staff so attentive. Breakfast was incredible. We ate lunch and two evening meals as the bar and restaurant was so good it wasn’t worth trying anywhere else. Would definitely recommend and return. "

"Just what we needed for our visit to Millom. We had an issue in the morning as had no water, but it was fixed as soon as we reported it. "

"Stayed one night only. The room was comfortable. Even though the heating was not on due to it supposedly being summer, as the room was a little cold we were able to turn on an electric wall heater to take the chill off the room & a blow heater in the bathroom. The quality and pricing of food and drink in the bar were excellent. The cooked breakfast was included, which was also delicious. Would definitely stay again."
