"I had a tiny private room with an even tinier bathroom. Had I known how small and bare bones my accommodation would be I probably wouldn't have selected it for a 5 day stay. However, it was clean and within walking distance of the beach and other landmarks."

"My stay at El Misti was superb!! I stayed in a private room during 7-13 November. It was my first time in Rio, and this was the perfect place to meet people!! They organise lots of events, and having easy access to the beach with a ticket for a free chair is an addes bonus! I can definitely recommend El Misti to others, and will likely stay here (or at least visit the amazing bar during happy hour!!) when I return, muito obrigado El Misti!! Tom"

"Wonderful staff. The place itself is very well located, but the bunkers are not very solid and are made from light wood (I was on the top one and all night waking up because every time the guest underneath me moved, the whole bed moved too). The communal shower is also very tight. Overall, budget friendly for backpackers who don't mind a certain degree of discomfort "

"I really enjoyed my one-week stay at Aquarele do Leme. The staff is great: super helpful and friendly. Even the owner, Thibault, is very nice and accessible. The terrace is the best. I enjoyed my coffee up there every morning. The breakfast included eggs, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and assorted fruits, plus all of the normal stuff. "It's a really interesting property they have a hostel and they have a separate set of rooms that are made out of shipping containers but have been modified to be hotel rooms. Each one has its own air conditioning units and key that you can lock the door with. You can enter the property at any time with your key fob but they are also available to open the door if you ring the bill you can walk to the train station from there but I would not suggest going at night. "Wayyyyyy too much going on there. I ended up booking another hotel. It may have been because it was NYE weekend. I will shout out the manager. She was extremely nice and helpful. I really commend her for handling everything. She definitely deserves a raise!! "
