"I enjoyed my time very much here. I loved that there was parking but depending on the time day of you came back it was often full (only fits about 17 cars), and you had to get creative with parking elsewhere (5 creative spots). If all the creative spots were gone then you would have to park ten minutes away, which luckily didn’t happen to us in early April 2025. I would imagine during high season parking would be very difficult, so don’t stay out too late with your car!! The location was not too far off the highway and offered day tours and hiking tours at reasonable prices on various days of the week. Their indoor pool is NOT INDOOR. It is only covered and is open to the elements, I actually think the indoor pool is colder than the outdoor pool because it is not warmed up by the sun. We used the steam room and dry sauna which was nice but they close early at 7pm which should be open later as people could use it after a long day of hiking! It was relaxing the one time we used it, the second time we just sat in the residual heat. Breakfast buffet is great and has many options, the perfect fuel for exploring the island!! One thing I would say I found annoying is that I often went to the front desk to ask questions and half the time no one would even be there and there is no bell to ring so I would say the service staff were not super helpful at this hotel."

"The hotel is in a great location, with a walkable area and a lot of restaurants around it. We stayed in a room with pool view and were actually able to walk out the room and go straight to the pool. There also was an ocean view from our room, although we never got down to the beach. The staff was friendly and all the amenities were fine. Free parking was limited, especially since it was also being used by the locals. "

"The property was very dated and in need of refurbishing,the bathroom definitely needs replacing . However the accommodation was clean . The location was just perfect & we had a sea view room that made up for the quality of the room . Breakfast was very poor and basic . We didn’t go after day 1 , there are lots of shops close by ,where you can grab foods & nice restaurants , A beautiful little town , "

"The quality of this hotel was superb, better than the 5* we stayed in previously. The spa facilities are immaculate (heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, ice bucket, four seasons shower etc.) – the only thing is it can get quite slippery due to the tiling so recommend wearing slippers/sea shoes. Breakfast was nice. We had the buffet one night and it was also good. Free shuttle service to Funchal seafront included. We plan to return! "

"A wonderful surprise this hotel turned out to be. Loved the old world feel of the reception area in the main hotel and the pool & sea view are exceptional. The staff was so knowledgeable and took time to show us about. We had dinner included but were not able to make it so, lunch was provided for us. The breakfast buffet is the best I have seen in Portugal with eggs made to order, warm breads and wonderful fruit salad to mention a few items. Overall, I would come back just to relax by the pool. Downtown Funchal is easily walk able as is the waterfront. The hotel can be very proud of their staff and their genuine concern for the stay of the tourist."
