"Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming. My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...

"Beautiful wildlife eco tourism facility. Many trails and opportunities right there to view the OSA Peninsula biodiversity. Meals were fabulous. We stayed in their one concrete “hobbit house” like facility which was Charming but lacked good sir circulation to cool down for sleeping despite 2 fans. "

"The property is wild and wonderful! They are really not joking about the trek to get in there, but that is part of why it's so great once you are there. That road is something, and then parking is a bit from the tree house. We saw all kinds of wildlife and enjoyed both sunny and stormy weather. It had an immersion feel for sure. "I stayed just one night at Cabinas upon arriving to the Osa peninsula and it was the perfect landing place to being my trip! The staff was so kind and helpful and it was great to be able to get out on the water and Kayak. The location is walking distance to town for cafes, grocery and restaurants. The price is affordable and the room was very clean and cosy! I would definitely stay again if I travel there! "

4 Bedroom, 2 Bath, 6 level Treehouse near Corcovado National Park, and Beaches.

One of a Kind Experience

"Staying in this beautiful and unique treehouse, high in the green tree canopy, was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Hand crafted from gorgeous local wood, with four levels and open to the fresh air of the jungle, we felt absolutely in sync with the environment. It was an adventure to get there (four wheel drive is a must) but Michael's directions took us right there. On our first morning we awoke to howler monkeys calling, noting our presence in their neighborhood. What a fantastic introduction to the Costa Rican jungle! Beautifully designed and built, the treehouse has everything you need- the beds are comfortable, the kitchen in fine working order and the views sublime. There are a lot of stairs, which wind artfully around the central tree, so please note if that's a problem for you. Also, the house is open air, so there are a few bugs in the evening, but the fresh air is well worth it. The sweet town of Puerto Jimenez is just down the road, with groceries, restaurants and beautiful uncrowded beaches. Michael was a great host too, responsive to our may questions. All in all, our stay was fantastic and unforgettable."
