"Hakone-Gora is a quiet area near the base of the cable cars taking you up for a My Fuji view. There are a few eateries and bars but not much else, and the eateries close early. As such it is great if you want a relaxing night and the Emblem Flow has great Japanese style rooms and a terrific Onsen, Also looks to be a good base for walking in the area. We loved it after the bustle of Tokyo."

There are two convenience stores about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and Lake Kawaguchiko is about a 15 minute walk. "We loved our time at Fuji Guesthouse. We stayed in their traditional Japanese room, which was spacious for the two of us the night before we began our Mt. Fuji ascent. Both staff members we interacted with were not only kind during our stay, but extended their hospitality beyond it, offering us to store our luggage while we were on the mountain, and allowing us to shower upon our return. "This is the best possible place you can stay in when you are in the Kawaguchiko area. At $50 a night, the full on view you get of Mt Fuji is priceless. Beautiful private room (if you opt for that) which is clean and cosy. The only con is that it’s a shared bathroom but it was equipped with real good soap and conditioner and clean as well.
