Bathrooms are continually cleaned, kitchen area is huge & staff other best to keep on top when done residents don’t understand what clean as you go means. "The new paint? and new carpet smells were very strong and I had a headache from the offgassing. Great kitchen- well stocked and great systems. The bunks are bunks- my top mate moved so much and shook my bed, I didn't sleep well for a couple of the nights I was there. Loved the recommendations they have all over. Excellent hostel."

"The place and kitchen was cleaned regularly. The rooms were small but had enough storage for luggage. I really liked that the beds had curtains, it helped make it feel less hostel like. "Verandahs is a lovely old villa with an almost ‘posh’ backpackers vibe. Its a couple of minutes walk to Ponsonby Road and about 10-15 minutes to K Road. We stayed in a queen room with ensuite which was spacious and clean, with nice linen on the bed. Check in was a breeze and the service was friendly and warm. Definately recommend and would stay here again :)"

"Was happy with the staff at United..unfortunately not so impressed with 'wotif' ( third party booking ).. Got to United only to find there was no room available ( one i had book 2 months in advance)..Had booking references Numbers and whats more ..i actually rang the hotel 2 minutes after i had made the booking ( just to confirm) and they said yes all is fine?? After a 45 minute wait while staff located us a room we had somewhere to stay..( myself and my two sons) one of which was flying out...

"We booked this property because it was a handy location, unfortunately we had also booked it because it said we could have 3 separate beds and because I was booking it for 3 students that didn't really know each other it was appropriate they have their own beds. I have just been told they were only provided with a double and single bed. This has put me in a rather awkward position. They were not confident to ask for this to be changed."
