"The hotel staff and people were spectacular! Breakfast was traditional Japanese style food, which may or may not suit westerners. Hotel is a bit dated and it shows. Our room was clean upon arrival; however, we encountered bugs and mosquitoes inside our 3rd floor room. This didn’t particularly bother us, but it may have an impact on other guests. "Highly recommended for its atmosphere and onsen"

"The hosts at the hotel were extremely hospitable. They helped us get to our hike at Mount Tsubakuro and created a wonderful environment for rest and relaxation. The food was great, too!"

"Great spot away from the busy Tokyo area. The rooms and the hotel is special in its own way and has a lot of character. Felt like being in my grandparents home. Really enjoyed staying here and it made it incredibly easy to walk to and from the train station to get bus tickets. Would definitely tell friends to stay here in the future. "

"Wonderful stay at the Hotel Kurobe. It’s a little older property but well maintained. Staff and meals are excellent. Short walk from the train station but it is uphill. They provide a free shuttle which was very convenient with luggage "

"Hallways smelt poorly, carpets are stained throughout the facility. We got the 4 person japanese room (only 2 in the room) and it was adeqaute for us. Outdoor tub included with room can only hold two people, food included with half board was buffet style and wasn't very good, however had a decent selection of western, japanese and chinese cuisines."

"The owner came and picked us up from the bus terminal! He spoke very good English and was very warm and friendly! He then dropped us back at the bus terminal at the end of the trip. Our room had a shared bathroom, which I didn’t realise would be the shared showers in the onsen (no booths or privacy) so that might not be for everyone when booking a room with shared bathroom. "Cozy, well maintained hotel 5 mins walk from Happo terminal. Very clean, with onsen which is great after a day of skiing! Guests who stayed there were all very respectful and more family oriented. Fantastic breakfast, and a wonderful team of staff that made us feel right at home. They even gave us a gift box at the end of the stay, so lovely!! Highly recommend!!"

"The inn proprietors were exceedingly helpful, friendly and kind. We felt very welcomed. The onsen bath was beautiful and very relaxing. They provided some nice spa products that I enjoyed. "I can not more highly recommend Shirouma So! The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The hotel was very comfortable and perfectly situated near the bus terminal, Happo One, and restaurants. The onsen was the perfect way to finish a day on the slopes. The food was excellent and there was plenty of variety - while breakfast is set, it is different every day. I would definitely stay here again!"

"Amazing hotel with friendly reception. Although quite far away from Toyama city center, in the middle of rice plantations, the hotel was nice with good dining. The big two storied room was clean and pleasant. They offer a Japanese yukata which you wear throug out your stay at the hotel. Good inner and outer Japanese style onsen were you can recover from your busy day."

"Plenty of room for kids. Well stocked and maintained. Close to town. "

"It's our second time to stay here as they got everything we need, washing machine, kitchen, spacing and nearby the slopes. Love everything here. It would be even greater if they have a curtain in the bedroom as I'm not a morning person and it's so bright in the morning."

"Great for our overnight before taking the Alpine route. Can’t say enough about how helpful the staff was. Luggable forwarding drop off for the alpine route is in the hotel lobby which was great! The hotel is very conveniently located across from the train station and the bus that takes you to the beginning of the route. Would recommend to anyone who is taking the route!"

Holiday Inn Resort Kuroyon, an IHG Hotel

"Wonderful hotel close to the entrance to the alpine route. Rooms are beautifully appointed. Beds are very comfortable and have soft and hard pillows available on the bed. Onsen is clean and offers both indoor and outdoor option. Customer service is excellent. Front desk is efficient , courteous and helpful. Food at restaurant is excellent. Buffet has many Japanese and western options. They are very good at addressing allergies and food presences. Highly recommend to add to your booking the evening and the breakfast buffet ( it’s is not only delicious but also much cheaper than adding at hotel). Highly recommended! "

"We loved our stay at the Hakuba Marriott! It had a great gym, the in room onsen was perfect after a day on the slopes and the staff were so friendly. It was walkable to the main drag and provides a shuttle to the ski resorts right out front. It was nice to come back and enjoy a drink at the bar after dinner. We cannot wait to stay here again!"
