"A lovely, cosy Alentejo style cottage situated in a rural area surrounded by vineyards, cork and olive trees. Everything was as described in the listing and the local property manager was lovely and made the check-in and check-out process seamless. A nice welcome basket was awaiting us of local wine, cheese and bread. Sadly, the view of the fields from the back patio was blocked by overgrown vegetation during our stay. "It was a great place in order to discover the beautiful areas of the region of Portugal. The village is very quiet and the people are charming, but the bakery opposite would bake in the evening which could mean smoke coming into garden if the wind was in the right direction. Despite this I would definitely stay again. Natalie was very good at arranging the pre-stay information. "

"What an amazing time we had in Orvalhos! The house sits on a hill where it overlooks the Alentejo plaines. In the mornings , the sounds of bells and birds always made me happy. The locals are just as nice! The house was very clean and it had all we needed. We kept it warm by using the fireplace every evening. Olga was always available for any questions I had and responded right away. One item to note, there are village cats that sat outside on the porch waiting for us to open the door. Since...

"We had an incredible stay in this lovely quiet village well away from the crowds of tourists. This gorgeous, large, cool, beautifully laid out house provided plenty of space for 8 people - 4 adults and 4 kids. Beautiful, peaceful stay

"This is a beautiful, peaceful hotel. The rooms are large, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff are wonderful. It would serve perfectly as a retreat and invites meditation. There are no TVs in the rooms, but there's a big TV in a common room. The building also houses artwork and small museums. It's a bit isolated. The restaurant wasn't open the night we were there, but we had a lovely dinner at a restaurant 700 meters away. You can also go to the castle for dinner. The hotel breakfast was wonderful. "

Breathtaking views

"I can't say enough about the location of Castle Window. The views from the back terrace are breathtaking and you walk out the front door to a cobblestone street with lovely restaurants and shops. Jose was accessible and helpful. The house had modern conveniences while maintaining the beautiful historic aesthetic of the location. We definitely recommend staying here!"
