A Gruta dos Moinhos Velhos (juntamente com a Gruta da Pena e a Gruta da Contenda), faz parte de uma grande rede de galerias com mais de 11 Km de extensão, constituindo dos mais importantes sistemas subterrâneos do Maciço Calcário Estremenho. Caracteriza-se pela existência de dois coletores paragenéticos fósseis, de diâmetro aproximadamente decamétrico, com afluentes desenhando uma rede dendrítica e um conjunto de galerias semi-ativas de traçado dendrítico a norte e angulado a sul. A zona fóssil tem um desnível de 100 metros e a espessura da zona intermédia varia entre 80 metros a montante e 60 metros a jusante, circulando a água por galerias singenéticas, do quadrante norte para o quadrante sul, em direção à exsurgência da Gruta da Pena.

Podem definir-se quatro fases na evolução do sistema. A primeira é representada por galerias freáticas superficiais, de pequeno diâmetro, a segunda pelo coletor paragenético da Galeria Gémea, a terceira pela Galeria Grande e seus afluentes e a última pelas galerias ativas e semi-ativas dos andares inferiores.

"A característica mais positiva foi podermos levar os nossos patudos connosco, a casa corresponde às fotos, e no geral correu tudo bem. A comunicação com o anfitrião podia ser melhorada, nem sempre obtive resposta pela plataforma, tendo que recorrer ao número de tlm disponibilizado. O check-in correu muito bem. "Het was een super leuke tijd met het gezin. Lekker ouderwets aan de enorme keuken tafel. De open haard hebben we ook kunnen gebruiken wat nog extra sfeer en gezelligheid heeft gegeven. De eigenaar bracht elke ochtend vers brood. Ook goede restaurants in de buurt aanwezig en betaalbaar. "

The house is big and the kitchen is well equipped… it’s basically your home from home. .our daughter enjoyed the little pool and the room with the three beds was perfect for us :) We would stay again if we come back to the area in future. "Une maison traditionnelle pleine de charme. Des chambres constituées comme de mini appartement.sas d entrée pour certaines.salle de bain pour chacune. Pièce commune,terrasse et piscine très grandes. Le poulailler,la volière, les mares pleines de grenouilles , les fleurs de nénuphar. Tout est bucolique."

"Accueil chaleureux, charmant jardin et piscine comme sur les photos, mais il s’agit vraiment d’un logement en demi sous-sol, très humide et sommairement aménagé et peu pratique (la salle de bains n’est pas accessible directement, il faut passer par un couloir demi-extérieur avec un sol de béton brut). On sent de très gros efforts et une grande gentillesse de la part des hôtes, mais l’espace n’est pas très agréable et on entend le moindre mouvement des occupants du logement situé au-dessus....

"Nous avons quitté les lieux plus tôt que prévu. La literie est catastrophique !!! Deux nuits ont suffit a nous casser le dos. Le logement n’est pas du tout adapté aux enfants, il manque cruellement de luminosité est très isolé de la civilisation. La cuisines n’est pas fonctionnelle ( pas d’eau chaud à l’évier, le peu d’ustensiles se délabre dans nos mains. La piscine se trouve dans le jardin des parents du propriétaire, donc il faut passer par un chemin de broussailles pour si rendre et une fois...

"Very impressive villa, amazing grounds and pool, the villa is very clean, large windows with tons of natural light. It’s very well equipped, beautiful linens and lots of room for groups. "MEIO country house is extremely well-maintained and outfitted. We were a group of 12 adults, with 6 new ones swapping places with the original guests after 1 week. Clean linens were supplied and a housekeeper cleaned the rooms beautifully. The location has easy access to the train at Santarem and only 1 hour drive to Lisbon. Modern and Spacious

"We got the largest room in their new building, just next door to the original building. The room was more like a suite and very modern. The staff was very sweet and helpful. The breakfast spread is outstanding. The location is great, walking distance to everything. The offsite parking garage is only a block away. We highly recommend Hotel Magic."

"The property and room was exceptional. Upon arrival, Julicia at the front desk was a breath of fresh air and quite accommodating. She is the reason people come back to properties. The room was clean and nicely appointed. Even though I missed breakfast in the morning, they were accommodating to provide me coffee and pastries my sister and I look forward to returning next year."
