A Gruta dos Moinhos Velhos (juntamente com a Gruta da Pena e a Gruta da Contenda), faz parte de uma grande rede de galerias com mais de 11 Km de extensão, constituindo dos mais importantes sistemas subterrâneos do Maciço Calcário Estremenho. Caracteriza-se pela existência de dois coletores paragenéticos fósseis, de diâmetro aproximadamente decamétrico, com afluentes desenhando uma rede dendrítica e um conjunto de galerias semi-ativas de traçado dendrítico a norte e angulado a sul. A zona fóssil tem um desnível de 100 metros e a espessura da zona intermédia varia entre 80 metros a montante e 60 metros a jusante, circulando a água por galerias singenéticas, do quadrante norte para o quadrante sul, em direção à exsurgência da Gruta da Pena.

Podem definir-se quatro fases na evolução do sistema. A primeira é representada por galerias freáticas superficiais, de pequeno diâmetro, a segunda pelo coletor paragenético da Galeria Gémea, a terceira pela Galeria Grande e seus afluentes e a última pelas galerias ativas e semi-ativas dos andares inferiores.

"First the POSITIVE: Beautiful home with an incredible view. Lots of space, wonderful furnishings. Local managers are responsive and helpful when we asked about pool temperature (too cold to use most days), beach towels (locked up and unavailable), bike condition (broken and un usable). Note the listing also indicates a clothes dryer is available - but is is not functional. The NEGATIVE: "Musty, stale smell" (from the basement presumably) so penetrates the house that the smell is always present....

Jeff & Judith made every effort to make us feel welcome, and we thoroughly enjoyed the home with its very clean and spacious areas, and lovely yard with the pool. "This is a stunning property with the most amazing views. My only reservation is that it has no air conditioning nor bug screens on the patio doors. The villa is surrounded by countryside greenery and therefore there are quite a lot of flies as a result. We found that if we left the doors open to try to stay cool, we were giving them a free invitation. To make the property just perfect in every way, either air con or screens would do the trick as it’s a beautiful spot."

Modern and Spacious

"We got the largest room in their new building, just next door to the original building. The room was more like a suite and very modern. The staff was very sweet and helpful. The breakfast spread is outstanding. The location is great, walking distance to everything. The offsite parking garage is only a block away. We highly recommend Hotel Magic."

"The property and room was exceptional. Upon arrival, Julicia at the front desk was a breath of fresh air and quite accommodating. She is the reason people come back to properties. The room was clean and nicely appointed. Even though I missed breakfast in the morning, they were accommodating to provide me coffee and pastries my sister and I look forward to returning next year."
