"I stayed in one of the rooms with the open air bath on the balcony, and it was one of the best views I've had at onsen. The room was great! I thought the men's public bath was a little run down, but still enjoyable. My wife thought the women's was very good and didn't mention any issues. I hope they can fix it back up because it's a beautiful hotel! I would definitely go again for the same room we had!"

"This place is falling apart at the seams. The property is old and musty with bugs. The food was passable but it’s one of very few choices in the area. The onsen bath takes literally hours to fill (8-10 inches per hour) and the location is so remote it takes several trains which run once an hour at most. Staff are lovely but avoid this place!! "

"Higashiyama onsen is a lovely, narrow canyon on the outskirts of Aizuwakamatsu. The red and blue sightseeing buses stop within 150 yards of the hotel. The onsen baths are not too hot. The food is great. Our room was a regular one and was spacious. All in all it was a very nice place. "

"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time. "Staff was friendly. We really really appreciated the free shuttle pick up and drop off from train station. That saved us big time since not much taxis in this area and the time we arrived. Hotel overall needs a renovation. A bit old and outdated. Room was ok. "

"This ryokan is in a beautiful location. Mr. Toshi went above and beyond to provide us excellent hospitality, a meal, and even showed us around Shiobara region and drove us to our bus stop. He was so helpful and caring to my family. The food, onsen, and rooms are wonderful."
