AbbyCreek Inn
5/5 Excellent
"At first glance, the property seems fairly pedestrian. Don't let first impressions for you - this place is an absolute gem in so many little ways.
First off, the staff are warm and welcoming without going over the top. They greeted us in a friendly manner, giving us assistance with everything we needed, including having extra towels ready. The room itself was spacious and well appointed, with the grounds kept immaculate. The room was a short walk from the river, which made for a relaxing walk.
A couple of little touches are what made it a great value. First, the breakfast was expansive and very tasty. The options were extensive and fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing with our morning meal, down to the robust cup of coffee. What really surprised us, however, was how strong the water pressure in the shower is. That may not sound like a big deal but, if you've traveled enough, you know that can't be taken for granted.
Along with those are other amenities such as a quaint two-person wooden swing (complete with beverage holders), well cared for landscaping, and a large pool and hot tub.
The staff bid us farewell very personably, and indicated that the property was locally owned by a very hands-on owner who oversaw every aspect of the management. It is clear that there is a lot of pride in ownership, as every detail appear to be tended to with great care.
Winthrop is a short hop across the mountains, so we found our new favorite go-to when we need a sun break."
