"The Sunset Motel is a bit dated, but the room was clean, quiet & comfortable. You check yourself in. The room key & a booklet of clear information about the motel & the area are left on the table. We never met our hosts. The kitchen was basic, but had most of what we needed. No coffee pot, but there was a French press available. Thames is a good sized town, with a grocery store close by. "This beautifully appointed cottage, next to Barry the owners home, has everything and more, than you could ever need. The view from the cottage is over rural farm land and out to the Shorebird Coast, Firth of Thames and the Coromandel ranges beyond. The moment I arrived from central Auckland I felt myself start to relax. Barry was very friendly and helpful.
