"We arrived at 16.30 checkin was quick and i went to the room my husband went to make a reservation for dinner.The room was very tastefully decorated but no heating on,as it was Febuary it would have been nice to walk into a warm room.We were only able to book for 21.00 which was far too late when we had lunch at 13.00.We were not able to order our choice on the menu as they had sold out sausage and mash and fish and chips nothing special maybe defrost a few more. W "

"Different. I mean that in the absolute best sense of the word. From the small red door to come in, to taking my shoes off inside, the classical music playing on entrance, the beautiful fireplace and welcome area, the suit of armour, the staircase, the 4 poster bed, the free standing bath...I could go on and on but this is possibly my favourite hotel I've ever stayed in. The balance between being true to it's heretige and yet being warm, comfortable and good WiFi were outstanding. What the family have done here is superb. I had a guided tour of the well downstairs and the back rooms and I would push you to explore the hotel when you stay, sit in the dining room and take it all in and enjoy your time there. One of the rules is no take aways in your room because of the smell and mess, normally I would always have my breakfast or order a takeaway at night but here...I didn't want to, I wanted to sit in the dining room and just take it all in. I never come out of my room when working away. The bathroom and decorations throughout the hotel are stunning also, just true and authentic but at the same time so clean and modern. What would I change - A water fountain somewhere and some larger spoons in the dining room for breakfast (maybe I missed them). But that is absolutely clutching at straws and I'm sure (in fact I know) if I would have asked, I would have been given one. That is absolutely the smallest of small nitpicky things ever. The hotel rules. Stay there"

"A very pleasant 1 night stay. The rooms are comfortable (although the pillows had been donated by Betty as an unwanted wedding present from Fred & Wilma). The staff were very helpful & friendly. The food was tasty & good value we felt the drinks were little pricey but was all served in a very pleasant environment. 10/10 all round 😀"

"Stay regularly at this hotel when visiting parents. Good car parking facilities, close to amenities with spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds. Always find staff friendly and helpful. "

"I stayed two nights while visiting family and friends. Great value and included breakfast. The breakfast was buffet styles with full english as well as toast, pastries, yogurt etc. Fruit juice and hot drinks. The hot breakfast was overall good with quality bacon, hash browns, eggs, beans and sausages. However the sausages were very cheap and had no taste, avoid them. Everything else was outstanding. The staff go above and beyond to be helpful and friendly. There is a nice lounge with comfy chairs and open fire. Rooms are very clean with comfy beds, there are some signs that a bit of redecoration will be needed before long but don’t let you put you off. Nothing broken anywhere. Plenty of free monitored parking. I will be using this hotel again when I have my regular trips to the area. Much better than the usual travel inn places. Forgot to mention the restaurant and bar is open each evening as well. "
