"The hotel is a bit out of town and very peaceful. Lovely view of the hills. Checkin was friendly and welcoming. Room was rather bland and slightly 1970s, but clean and well kept. Most importantly it was warm a comfortable and I got a good night’s sleep. The bar closed very early which was a shame as I’d arranged to meet a friend at 9pm but by then all was in darkness. "Great stay at this gastro-pub with rooms. Room was modern, quiet, comfortable and clean. Had lunch and breakfast at the pub and both were GREAT. Staff were really helpful and pleasant, Paula in particular. Free parking and bus stops to Wrexham and Llangollen 50yds from hotel so very convenient for either. One note of caution if you pack heavily - I don’t think there’s an elevator. All in all a terrific stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. "

"The Cain Valley is steeped in tradition and about as far from todays modern chain hotels as you can get. Great service, fair prices, good beer and enthusiastic staff. Very much a breath of fresh air. Its also well frequented by the locals - which is usually a good sign. but can get a little noisy at closing time. So recommend you ask for a room not over the Public Bar."

"The Gun Room was very nicely kitted out. The kitchen had everything we needed. Bedroom was very comfortable and bright. One thing I would say is that the sofa is very small and not very comfortable! There is however a TV in the bedroom for lounging. The outside space is lovely and we had some great weather to enjoy it. We had our dog with us so the garden was great but the road was very busy so for a longer walk we had to go in the car. "
