"The place was much older than the photos made it look. Yes it was a design house at some time in the past, but now it looks old and shows its age. The location is also hard to gwt to due to where it is on a busy road. It was not particularly close to the lake or park as the description made it sound. Having said that, the house is maintained well but cannot hide its age. "

"Everyone at this hotel was very accommodating. Beautiful rooms with great views. Breakfast was great each morning, and Nicky was a fantastic server going above and beyond. Dinner was also very good. It is outside the central rotoura area and as such most tours won’t pick you up there, but it is a 10 min drive into town and we found it very easy to get an uber quickly, so no issues getting around. "

"The Putaruru Hotel has definitely seen better days. The photos of the outside were taken at least a decade ago. When we showed up it was looking very drab. All of the common areas like the bar, ballroom and lounge have been locked up. The lounge had a huge stack of mattresses in it.
