"Liked stay at El Pelicano but the pool wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. My room was good couldn’t get the safe to work but overall clean. I would try another place next time but overall experience not bad. Beach is walkable not far from the hotel. "

"Very beautiful place. Also pretty quiet except one weekend nights when locals showed up. Very good amenities. The Italian chef made the only memorable food we had in Samana. The only problems where: you had to pay for cleaning everyone, not enough shampoo etc and the check-in was pretty awkward."

"It is hard to explain how amazing this lodging is. I agree with other reviewers—if you are looking for a five star experience, you need to stay in a fancy hotel in Samana. If you are looking for breathtaking views, a rustic environment, and an amazing element of privacy—you are looking at the right place. Every room feels like it own bungalow, the included breakfast was delicious, and the smash burgers were awesome! The staff was attentive and the view of the bay was second to none. It is a hair raising drive up to the hotel and a hike from the parking to your room (staff will help with luggage) but once you are settled in—YOU WON’T want to leave! It’s great, we already can’t wait for our next stay…"

"We stayed in early March for 6 days and loved every day. Frankly, everything was great. We didn't get to try the spa or excursions because we had a 15mo old baby with us, which takes a lot of time, but just the pools and the beach were wonderful. The food was amazing. Each restaurant had fantastic food. Even the breakfast buffet was phenomenal. For drawbacks, getting to the property is a major drag. It's a 3hr ride by car from Santo Domingo. Not much they can do about that, I guess. What they can improve on are two things: quality of coffee (didn't enjoy that at all) and the staff needs to get a bit better on their English. Some are better than others, but most of the time, communication was challenging. You can also communicate with your "ambassador" via WhatsApp and even that was not all smooth sailing, so yeah, staff's English needs to improve. But don't let this hold you back, even with what it is now, it's been a wonderful stay."
