"Lovely historical property and good value for money. Quiet location, great stop off for travelling on the A66, with Barnard Castle just a short drive. Easy check into cosy courtyard cottage. Nicely decorated and furnished, though the bed would benefit from a better quality mattress. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Evening pub menu satisfactory but not exceptional."

"Daniele and Glenda made us very welcome and were always very attentive. Arranged our evening meal at short notice. Plenty of informative leaflets for people to take to plan their outings. "

"Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them. On the hole, everything else was excellent. "Stayed two nights and it was lovely. Very convenient for food and drink. Didn’t spend that much time there as we were walking part of Hadrians Wall. Would definitely recommend it though. "

"Arriving at the Cottage and walking in through the side door we knew we were in for real treat in this immaculate two bed Cottage, nestled in this sleepy village you couldn’t ask for more . No TV which suited me fine , your spoilt with how quiet this place really is . Highly recommend for those who like peace and quiet.It’s a 10 for me. Alan"

Birthday Weekend Celebrations

"We are just back from a two nights break at the ‘Derwent Manor Hotel’ celebrating three birthdays and we were completely blown away from the start to the finish. Debbie and Natalie who made us so welcome on arrival. There was eleven of us in the group and everyone was blown away with the quality of their rooms along with the quality of the food and service that we received both at dinner time and breakfast time. We all agreed that we’d had a great weekend and took our hats off to the staff that looked after us. None of us found a single fault with the weekend break and we will definitely look to book there again in the future as there is so much to do and see in the area. Thank you to management and staff for taking care of us."
