Azores Youth Hostels - São Miguel
2.0 star property
7.8 out of 10, Good, (45)
"My only gripe was that we had to leave very early in the morning to catch a flight and there wasn’t anywhere to drop off our room key. I left it in the room with the door unlocked. That said, everything else was terrific! Good proximity for walking to restaurants. We felt very safe and the area was quiet enough…With our windows open (the air con was off) we could hear a lot of community noise, but it died down nicely. Breakfast was good wnough to get us out the door. "

"This hostel has a variety of room options (some have terraces) and both the rooms and the common spaces are newly-renovated, well-designed and comfortable! There is also a roofdeck with a spectacular view of Ponta Delgada. The property is a renovated multi-storey 1930's townhouse with a central mahogany staircase (and elevator) that has been in the same family since 1961.The grandson manages the place and is very knowleadgeable about tours and very responsive to requests. Breakfast is included...

Pousada de Juventude de Lagoa
7.6 out of 10, Good, (11)
"Clean modern facility close to the water. Wifi worked poorly in my room. If I was able to connect to the internet, I got bumped every 2 minutes. Very frustrating. Staff called a manager who claimed to reset the wifi but it made no difference. Limited TV channels. Included breakfast was limited to rolls and cereal. Extra food was available for sale. Good deal if you just need a place to sleep."

"I have only excellent things to say about this calm hostel/hotel. It is a mix of rooms, apartment, and hostel. I stayed in a 4 bed bunk room. It was immaculately clean, with high quality beds, and bedding, and so spacious. Bathroom was likewise large and pristinely cleaned every day. Common area and kitchen were calm and I never had a problem being able to cook etc. Location was ideal, on a pedestrian street. If you have a car, this is not a plus. For me, it was fine. Ana was lovely and was...

"Room was spotless. Bed was very comfortable. The place was welcoming and with lovely decor touches. Pedro and his wife were super nice and helpful.
