"The place is very quiet and has a relaxed feel to it. Quite rustic. The staff did not speak any english so check in was tricky. After we got settled in the room we did meet the owner who did speak english and he made us feel very welcomed. "

You don't have to book accommodation in advance all the time - just wander around with your backpack and see what happens. You don't always have to read every section of a guidebook to 'be prepared'. Let go of control. Get lost, be curious, say YES to life and you might just be surprised!
While Ben was exploring mainland Cambodia, I took a bus down to Kep - a little fishing village - and saw signs for a cheap boat to 'Koh Tonsay' (also known as the Rabbit Island). I took the boat and found Paradise! I was blown away!

For hours I lounged on this hammock reading a book and just enjoying the view of an unspoiled beach - almost like Koh Phayam in Thailand. It was Heaven!
I would not have discovered this, had i not just spontaneously decided to buy a ticket to somewhere I had known nothing about. "We spent 2 nights at the resort, and it truly felt like “home away from home”. All staff are wonderful and had been super helpful. We felt warm and welcomed throughout our stay. We love how clean the resort is and how the staff treated us. Love it and very appreciative for the service and made us felt comfortable, enjoyable, and relax during our stay. "The positive aspects: excellent staff. The manager, Taa, was the manager, who provided transportation to and from the transit stations The rooms were spacious. The property had ample common space. The pool area was large and scenic. The restaurant had a decent menu and was convenient. The only negative for us was the immediate area around the resort was not particularly walkable. It is serviced by an unpaved road. "

"The staffs were so friendly and very helpful. The Hotel is absolutely beautiful and the pool is well kept and cleaned ...Although each balcony could use some small table and chairs for guests to sit and enjoy the view ...The Terrace is very magnificent with a stunning view and again could use some lounge chairs or some sort of chairs/tables for guests to relax , ..Overall, i highly recommend this hotel to anyone . . Appreciate the buffet its quite alright 😁 I would stay here again and thank you to all the staffs and Manager for a great stay... Sign, Savorng Svay"

"The staff at The Columns are extremely nice and helpful. The included breakfast has many nice options and is well-prepared. We had both a double room on the first floor and a balcony room on second floor in our party, and we much preferred the first floor. It’s more spacious, better laid out, and has high ceilings. The second floor is not great for tall people because there are so many low ceilings, and the rooms feel cramped. "

"A nice, clean hotel with pool. Only issue was poor wifi but this seems to be an area issue as many other places in Kampot weren't much better. Staff are excellent and helpful, always with a smile. A short walk to to many bars, restaurants and the river where most of the action is. 10 minute walk to the night market. "
