"The service, cleanliness and decor were first rate. We had booked a luxury sea view room and the view was gorgeous. Unfortunately the room was tiny with only room for the bed and one small chair - we did not feel that particular room (226) represented good value for money (£1491 for 3 nights). Reception said they had no other room available. Other rooms were much more spacious. The help received when one of our phones was lost while out in Hermanus, including a late checkout, was outstanding."

"Baleia was easy to find as it was metres off the main road into Hermanus. Very secure parking and easy to access/exit on foot or by car. Characterful rooms - many set around a small courtyard with small pool. Host and staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Value for money. "

"Sadly there were two very big problems with Whale Rock. 1. It was about 200yds from a huge and filthy township. The approach was through this which was very frightening. We felt it dangerous to go out unless by car. 2. It is advertised as per person, so be careful when booking. We didn’t realise and were surprised when we were charged almost £200 a night, which is definitely way over the top for this place, which is not spectacular and so close to a township. "

"This is a friendly B&B that are so popular is SA. All rooms have great views of the sea and would offer excellent viewing during the season when whales are in the bay. It is also a nice walk into the town centre where there are plenty of restaurants. The room has traditional decoration which is well maintained and clean. "The Abalone Lodge is a beautiful property in a magnificent setting overlooking a captivating seascape with a private gate leading to walking paths. The staff was amazing, the food was gourmet level including the breakfast choices. The rooms are very comfortable. I would love to stay here again but next time for whale season. The Aboline Lodge is definitely the perfect place to stay for whale watching or any time when you need to relax and be pampered. "
