"Certainly not the ritz but the staff couldnt do enough to make our stay comfortable. Beds were comfy, rooms warm. Water pressure a bit low in the shower but it was clean and close enough to city centre. You get what you pay for and to put our heads down at night and get showered it was a perfect room for us. "

"The hotel is in an isolated place but there is a sister pub/hotel nearby and many buses into town. The Metrocentre is nearby (a disappointment) and the Rowers has funky old fashioned ship-related decor with wooden panels and antiquated-style bathroom furnishings. The only drawback are the doors to each room which need to be pulled hard to close."

Very friendly hosts, who had not only decorated the cottage with a full sized Christmas tree etc, but had left a home made sandwich cake, fresh eggs, tea and coffee for us ok arrival - very much appreciated after a journey all the way from Australia. "There was evidence of smoking - cigarette ends on the flat roof outside the only functioning window. The chair was broken. The continental breakfast was not served on time and was meagre and very poor. The staff were friendly however and with a bit of thought and better planning it could easily improve."

"First impressions not good....loose tiles on front door step,grubby stained carpets everywhere,open kitchen bins.steep staircases.Our room was in the Attic and we are both in our 70s !!!! Tiny Shower Room with cracked damp stained ceiling.Tiny Wardrobe,dirty dusty windowsill. This "Hotel" is permanently occupied by 2 Residents. Owner was friendly enough."
