"This was my first time visiting Black Hawk, and I planned the trip last minute to get away and recharge from the chaos of everyday life. My experience at Ameristar was exactly what I needed — a true breath of fresh air. My family and I run a dude ranch guest resort, so I naturally pay close attention to service and hospitality wherever I go. The staff at Ameristar were some of the most genuine, friendly, and professional people I’ve encountered. Every interaction felt real, welcoming, and delivered with pride — something that’s become rare these days. One morning, I accidentally overslept and didn’t realize it was already 4 PM, well past the 10 AM checkout. I expected the worst when the manager knocked on my door, but instead, he was simply checking to make sure I was okay. That level of concern and care meant a lot. We ended up having a great conversation, and I even decided to stay an extra night. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Ameristar exceeded all expectations — I’ll definitely be back"

"The hotel seemed so understaffed. Was only able to play table games in the evening, and when the table games were open, there was maybe 1 or 2 bartenders for the whole casino. Had 2 drinks while I played Blackjack for about 5 hours, and they weren't served to me, I had to go to the bar to get them."

"Since attending CU in the late 70's early 80's, I've missed brunch at the Boulderado and have wanted to stay there. I've finally retired and am back in Colorado. This was on my bucket list, so I went to a dance performance and stayed in one of the historic rooms. I had no street noise, or even people noise on my floor. I had a very nice angled view of the flatirons. I was above the HVAC system, but it was a good white noise at night. Lovely amenities."

"We loved our stay at Basecamp. The hotel was quiet and very comfortable. The decor was so cute and we really appreciated this. It was walking distance to Pearl which made for a nice/safe night. The hot tub was also nice! "

"Wonderful properly location wise and love floor to ceiling windows mostly and location. Rooms and amenities are quite dated though, I think though property got fair price-value for the area. I would not pay more than $150 for room there. "
