"You enter the property though an out-house at the end of a path. There’s no working outside light so, if you arrive late or like to go out on an evening take a torch. When we arrived, the bins were overflowing, and bags of rubbish had been piled up along the path. The outside area doesn’t get cleaned or maintained so, if you like al fresco dining you need a stiff brush and bucket of soapy water to clean away all the rotting fruit, leaves and debris. "The lodge was perfect. Spotlessly clean and pretty and everything you could need. However what made our holiday absolutely perfect was the garden the lodge is set in. Stunningly beautiful, magical grounds that you could see from all sides of the lodge. With a folly perfect for an outdoor fire and BBQ. Central to all of the North East and Durham attractions. I have been twice now and can’t wait to go again. Magical!"

"Lovely little cottage, really clean & with nice touches- dog bowls & bed, children’s books, scented candles, local guide books. Fully equipped & sparkling clean kitchen. Beautiful view from the back garden & situated in a small village around a green. Only issue was that I couldn’t turn down the heating except by turning the (very modern) boiler off. Useful to have instructions on how to do this - also a printed (not just online) manual for the house. Lovely place & I would go again."

"Bathrooms and bedrooms great, kitchen not great but adequate, dining room good with plenty of mats for the table, sitting room ok but furniture a bit shabby, utility room good with good quality white goods. Garden not good for children of all ages really, nowhere to kick a ball and so steep we couldn’t let the little ones play at all outside, not that we had the weather to do that anyway!! All in all a good house but could be better. "
