"If you have to stay in a motel, this is the one to stay in. A kind family runs it, and it’s as clean as can be. The only reason I scored my overall rating at a 4 instead of a 5 is that starting at 12 am there were gun shots that sounded super close by."

"Black Bear Lodge is the perfect place to lay your head at night after a long day of hiking and outdoor adventures! The host was very kind as she provided light breakfast each morning (fruit, tea, coffee, muffins, croissants, bottled water), and checked in with us to make sure our stay was going well. "We really enjoyed our stay in Hunter. The house met our needs well for a large family gathering. The hot tub and game room were excellent. Beutiful inside.It is close to shopping and hiking trails in the area. We did a lot of cooking and could have used larger cutting boards and baking/roasting pans. Be aware that the house is right on the main road into Hunter. The pinball machine was frustrating at times because the ball would get stuck.Overall it was a great stay."
