"Beautiful building that needs some modernization in room"

"Staff were very friendly and room was nice, but some parts outdated. The hotel is renovating and we didn’t find out until the day before we left. So during the day we could hear the construction. Also they said they would do something special because it was a birthday trip, but they didn’t do anything until I asked our last night there. "

"Montebello is a charming property - when you are there you know you're somewhere special and with history. However, I'm not sure it's quite living up to the Fairmont name and $$. Service was terrific (especially the gentleman who checked us in!) and our dinner in the main restaurant was outstanding. However, some parts of the property are in dire need of an update, most notably the fitness center and spa change rooms. "

"A really nice hotel. Check in was a wee bit slow. Hallway noise is a little loud in rooms. Bed is comfy. Room is nicely appointed. It's a really good place but for the cost, I feel like I am missing something. "
