"Zanzibar is challenging to tour and relies mostly on expensive taxis. Therefore we found it far better to stay central in the island in the fabulous Stonetown capital. The best 'traditional' hotel by a mile is the historic Tembo House Hotel. Situated on the coast with private beach, two swimming pools and views of the small coastal boats to die for. "The location is absolutely perfect for anyone who wants to walk around Stonetown. Several wonderful cafés and restaurants are nearby and pretty much everything is walking distance. The Beyt is an older simpler hotel much like Tembo House hotel. But everything is clean and good condition. Breakfast is simple but more than enough. The staff are friendly and sweet — a big thanks to Diana for making my check in and check out fast and easy! "

"This property itself was beautiful. Our room had two stories, and our room upstairs opened up to the restaurant, and the beautiful rooftop view. The staff here were so nice and helped us to plan everything we wanted to do. Also, the location of this place is very convenient, very close and walkable distance to the night food market, and different historic locations in Stonetown. We loved our stay here and will definitely go back. Only complaint we had was that the drain in the shower went down...
