"The property had everything we needed. Sitting outside in the evening was very nice. The log burner was cosy after the sun went down. It was only a few minutes drive to the local shop and distillery. That being said,some mould remover and a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss. shop and distillery."

"The cottage is cosy, clean and very inviting. Shiskine is a wonderful place to stay, quiet and very appealing. It's very close to Blackwaterfoot, which is beautiful. The Kinloch Hotel does marvellous meals (takeaways too). What really makes the stay worthwhile is the landlady, Jan. Last year, when we couldn't get off the island due to ferry problems, Jan put us up for an extra with no charge. "Gate Cottage is even more lovely than the pictures show - spacious and well decorated, and the setting is very peaceful, with a private side and back yard, and another grassy area across a quiet road that leads down to the rocky beach facing the Isle of Bute. The one thing to be aware of for visitors is that there's only a small (but very well stocked) market and a few restaurants, some only open at weekends, right in Kames, so you'll need to bring in most provisions from a supermarket in...
