"We found the property clean but lacking, certainly not "Superb". The decor was sparse e.g. bare light bulbs. Negatives Bathroom: no mirror, no towel rails, only one hand towel in the property for three. Kitchen: Two sets of knives & forks for three, no large glasses or wine glasses, no fire blanket/extinguisher, no downstairs smoke alarm I could spot. "Beautiful property and house along the Seaham coast. Great location! Place was clean and inviting. "

"Pros: Really good communication from host. Decorated nicely. Log burner (extra charge if using hosts logs). Milk in fridge. 8 minutes drive to Beamish museum. 4 minutes drive to a really good play park and splash area, by the river. Comfy beds and bedding. The accommodation was really clean. Shower heats up quick, large shower head. Dog bowls and biscuit treats - nice extra. Cons: Oven was broken by previous guest (on request, host was really good at providing air fryers). "The house is clean in the main areas that you need i.e. clean sheets and towels. However, it needs a good deep clean between the gaps of the couch, 'stuff' under the foot stool when moved, mold near the hand basin, bubbling above shower, dishes/cutlery needing a good wash. A fan in summer would have been helpful and had to chase the host for check-in details. Photos are better than what is actually is and could do with some maintenance and tlc."

"Water was leaking in two of the three rooms from the ceiling onto the beds and along the walls of the rooms. We were able to use only one of the three rooms. Our host informed us of the problem per e-mail at about 7PM but we were unaware of that message as we were driving. Upon late arrival at about 11:00PM we were informed of a leak in one of the rooms but soon discovered that water was dripping onto the bed in the second bedroom. "Although basic was warm and comfy there was hairs all over the bathroom and bed from previous person sockets were in odd place and roller blind didn’t work didn’t spoil my stay though I found it pleasant enough easy check in was taken to room explained codes previous reviews said noisy doors slamming ect traffic noise I didn’t experience any of this found it easy to sleep and quiet great location and easy to find "

"Noisy heating system and water taps , not a quiet building but a fair price. Comfortable beds and clean kitchen utensils and crockery , very good location for our needs. Limited parking spaces just next door at Holiday Inn "

"The hotel is really high quality. The rooms are a great size with all the amenities and great bathrooms. The bus into the city centre is right outside and it’s about 10 minutes to the metro station. Would definitely stay here agsin"

Overnight Stay at the Royal Station Hotel

"Arrived to the hotel early and they had no problem storing our suitcases until check in. All the people behind the service desk were super helpful and friendly. Even helped give us recommendations for where to eat on the evening. Went to the swimming pool twice while we stayed and was a nice amenity. The room we stayed in was a decent size and clean. Had breakfast on the morning which is a buffet and is well worth it, the variety and amount that is available is plenty and good quality too. Always enjoy when we stay here. "
