"We really enjoyed our stay at the Buddha house! It was beautiful, bright, clean and the back yard was huge and lush with greenery. The house was very well equipped, the bed was comfortable and the shower was great. (Tip: To get hot water in the kitchen, you have to run the bathroom sink at the same time, otherwise there is not enough pressure to get the hot water tank working.) It was a quiet location which was a nice change after having stayed in other towns where dogs were constantly barking...

"We had the most incredible stay at Casita Tucan. Starting with the check in process- so smooth and the hosts were extremely accommodating letting us leave our luggage in the main office before check in so we could go explore. Staying in this house is an experience unlike anywhere else. You are quite literally in the jungle. The house was surrounded by sloths (a mom and baby), tons of capuchin monkeys, and the best was being woken up by the howler monkeys at 5am. Puerto viejo is such a fun little...

"Great location and property on the Caribbean coast of CR. Having a Villa is great to spread out (there were 4 of us) and the property is a short walk to a few very nice restaurants and a non swimming area of the ocean. Punta Uva is less than 10 minute drive. Villa was well appointed with above average bedding. Few points, the Villa has neither AC nor a washing machine. "Excellent pool and 200 feet from black sand beach is the highlight. The pool was large and in a perfect relaxed setting. The beach was down a beautiful path and to an incredible beach which never had anyone on it and you could walk on for hours. "Villa Toucan was the perfect place for us! It was an unforgettable 40th anniversary. We didn't know such a place existed. But know that this rustic, simple jungle villa without AC and open air bathroom, shower, sitting room might not be for everyone...but it was for us. The fans were effective and bugs not too bad. The bed we used was great. Best of all was the setting. Howler monkeys and the nesting Montezuma birds were the stars of the show. Toucans could be seen in a same tree every morning...

All of the structures on the property are open air and have no central air conditioning so the addition of fully functioning ceiling fans is very important.
