"It was great in general, but they closed the bar at 9 30, this was disappointing as no alternatives nearby and we booked a pub so we could have a bit of "nightlife" "

"Stayed overnight on NYD. Ellie on check in was nice and friendly parking permit was given and check Inn was allowed at 130pm which was great as it was raining all day. Room was ok basic but clean nice comfy bed. We ate in the restaurant and it was ok nothing special. Breakfast was lovely friendly staff choice was plentiful just no poached eggs or fried due to kitchen issues."

"Really lovely stay, staff very helpful, professional and friendly. Room was ideal and comfy and clean had everything we needed. We ate and drank in the pub, reasonably priced and very good. There was a live singer the atmosphere was great. Breakfast was lovely too. Id definately recommend and would stay again."

"Been here before so knew what to expect. Lovely room with modern facilities right in the centre of town. Great staff and the building is nearly 400 years old so fabulous atmosphere. Be aware that as the room we had (3) is right over the bar, so can get noisy "

"Reasonable. Normally i would have said excellent but one or two things were not upto there usual standard . There was music noise from downstairs until late and the room i had was v dark but was attractive ( 13) . The food was ok but mine lacked vegetables and the fishcakes were dry."

"I stayed two nights in Castleton in mid-November amid some early snow which made the village and the walks around the hills stunning. But the real treat came after a long day of hiking when I was able to return to a cozy pub to have a hot meal, a pint of ale and a nice read by a roaring fire. "The Courthouse hotel is beautifully decorated and our room was spacious and tastefully decorated. The bar staff were so polite and attentive end even made me Zombie cocktails which were off the menu and where the best I've had in many years. Thank you for a lovely stay. We'll definitely be back. "
