"Great place. Wonderfully decorated with robin’s egg blue trim, sturdy and functional furnishings. Just beautiful, the way the light streams in from the shuttered windows. Tranquil (albeit with country sounds like roosters). Peaceful. It is easy to walk into town, either along a hiking trail or along the highway, which has a sidewalk after a while. Shops, restaurants, cafe in town. So much to explore in the area. Hosts were gracious and quick to respond to all questions. We stayed 9 days and it...

"A luxurious, spacious, well equipped apartment in characterful building. Beautiful swimming pool and outdoor kitchen and eating area. Views from the property are incredible. The hosts were charming and very friendly and we had our complete privacy. Our family loved this property and really hope to return."

"Great property exactly as described, and the setting and views were just the best! The local town 20 mins drive on the river is Amarante and it stole our hearts. The drive straight down the mountain to a slightly closer town Celorico de Basto is not for the faint hearted, and was not repeated. The TV was in French which was a bonus as we don't speak Portugese. The host was very accommodating of our very late arrival at 11pm due to flight issues and responded to all messages immediately.A great...

"Great location and accommodation however need more drawers and cupboards for clothes in main house - we had to live out of suitcases. Beds very comfortable but not enough easy chairs in main room."

"Good apartment with secure parking, microwave and 2 ring hob. Nearest supermarket 15 mins but try the roadside barbequed chicken lady and bakery in the village. Proprietor loaned us some scales as I was close to my 20kg allowance. A couple more pillows would be a bonus."

"My goodness, what an amazing property! Although distant from most major hotspots, it is smack in the middle of nature, and far away from the traffic and noise of civilization. This unique property includes an old large wine making room with equipment, the entry to the breakfast and dinner rooms. Charming and outstanding."

There was no-one staying in the second property by the water but don't think it would have changed our opinion. The views are superb and we enjoyed the variety of places we could sit to view the surrounding countryside and sky. Very well equipped kitchen and BBQ which was above average for a holiday let. "If you are planning a trip to explore the 'Rota du Vinho Verde' make this your home for the stay. The family is so welcoming and you won't find a more magical location than the haven they have created. "We had a lovely stay ant the location is as expected in a great little part of the national park. The place is as in the pictures and whilst we didnt use the pool it looks fab and the hot tub was ideal. The local restaurant was very welcoming and the nearby old bridge could hsve been a scene out of Brigadoon..... fantastic. There are the useual few quirkes with staying in older remote towns but it shouldn't put you off as presumably if you are looking at staying here you will appreciate that...
