"Not recommended - the pillows and all bed smells humidity, someone brought another person in the shared room in his bed and made “noise” at night. Reception staff mostly okay, but didn’t care much. No apologies as if it’s all normal there"

"Excellent and very kind stuff at the reception. However, be aware the manager will try to claim that the online payment didn't go through, and will try to make you pay twice. Not an acceptable practice!"

"It was quite different than the advertised pictures in the website. We could not bath in the pool as it was not precisely clean. We had to find a paid parking in a different pousada as it was not possible to find a space outside. The breakfast was not very good as we had to wait to find a space to sit down because all the tables were occupied, they did not serve eggs. Electricity did not work all morning so we had a cold water shower. "

"A casa ade Elio e Yara é uma verdadeira joia. Perfeita para uma viagem em família. A praia em frente não é tão boa para banho mas com algumas braçadas, ou uma trilha, e estamos em alguma praia perfeita."

"A casa do João é muito maravilhosa. Ficamos no carnaval de 2018 e não podiamos ter feito escolha melhor. A casa é linda, limpa, bem arrumada e os caseiros Edinho e sua mulher são muito gentis! É realmente um paraíso com praia particular! Uma delícia dormir na suíte que o mar bate bem embaixo nas pedras e acordar com o barulhinho do mar. Única coisa que não esperávamos era a cobrança pra usar qualquer item de lazer da casa, sendo que até o frescobol tinha que pagar...Optamos em levar nossas...

"The property was nice and spacious. Our room was next to the pool and kitchen where every day at 06.00 the staff would start chatting and shouting, which woke us up. Only three tables around the pool for breakfast, which were "reserved" so we had to eat in our room, which seemed pointless as there was plenty of space for more tables."

"Pousada do Ouro was excellent! The staff were friendly and helpful, the property was charming and clean, and the surrounding area was interesting. It has two great beaches within walking distance. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paraty and hope to return one day."

Zero out of ten!

"DO NOT STAY HERE unless you 1) like being bitten by insects / sleeping in insect repellent, 2) have unlimited data on your mobile phone, 3) have a deep love of cats and/or 4) have a complete disregard of your own health and safety. I've written a more thorough review on Google but a special mention to Hotels.com/Expedia for quickly refunding me for this nightmare after providing photographic evidence. Not one member of staff speaks English or understands the concept of Google translate, they'll verbally reply to you in Portuguese (it's a tourist hotspot so not unfair to ask for some to speak basic English). There are cats everywhere even though the hotel has a no pet policy and WiFi doesn't work in any of the rooms. They put this on their own website (if you Google translate it) but have failed to inform all third-party websites that are selling their rooms."
