"Our group of 10 enjoyed our stay in Penafiel. The property is beautiful - gorgeous sunset, nice pool and a friendly neighbourhood cat. The kitchen has everything that one would need, although it could use a larger kitchen sink! We loved the outdoor bbq and pizza oven. The owner communicated well with us. We highly recommend taking the owner up on the offer to have the Portuguese cook to whip up some excellent Portuguese fare. "

"Our stay was made especially pleasant by the helpfulness and friendliness of the owner. He could not have been better. Because it was an old stone house the availability of electrical outlets for charging phones etc and for appliances was very limited. Perhaps the charm of an old house. The swimming pool was a wonderful attraction on hot days."

"Nice house, the description is pretty accurate. Quite comfortable for 8 people. We stayed in the mid of summer; the pool was very warm. The river was also warm and good for swimming. The things to pay attention to: - during hot days A/C works to full capacity. - the closest store is 10-15 min away, not walkable - if you are uncomfortable driving steep up/down hill, and sharp turns, consider staying elsewhere. "

Quite secluded and peaceful and about 25 minutes from Regua. Typical country roads to reach it required careful driving. It was a nice base to come home to after a long day of sightseeing, relax and enjoy the evening"

"We stayed with two couples for 14 days at this lovely house. Olga and Paulo were fabulous hosts and gave us countless of wonderful tips on what to do and where to eat. Communication was flawless. "We had a lovely holiday in Alvarenga. Manuel and his family were warm and welcoming and we loved attempting to chat round the pool in French and Spanish! It's a beautiful area with green eucalyptus hills and the Geo park provided some interesting spots to visit.
