"It’s a very small Ryokan. Nothing much around the area. To only enjoy the room and onsen. Basic necessities. Quiet and has lots of greenery. Get to enjoy the traditional feel of a Japanese onsen. Transportation & food not included."

"Room was a bit tight for 4 people. Normally the beds are prepared for sleeping at the end of the day but it was not the case in this hotel. Dinner and breakfast were good- big spread and delicious. "

"The property is generally clean but just that there's some unsightly brownish areas at the base of the bath tub. Food and service are good. Just a note for people with walking disability - the rooms are located along the slope, hence have to take note of this. "

"We are a party that booked 3 rooms at Kai Aso for 2 nights. Whilst the English speaking reception staff were always helpful, unfortunately one room, No 11, was totally inadequate & substandard. Room floor heating was not working both nights. Whilst the room temp showed 30C, it felt like 20 max 23C. It was very cold both nights, outside temp dropped to 0C both nights. For the first night the staff provided a heater and the second night another one was added. Third day morning, the heating for...

"Very special property that we loved. We stayed in January and esp loved the onsen and subfloor heating. Check in was easy enough because there was the option of online pre-registration. The road to the house was windy but not too bad - note that the GPS in the rental car may not show you the way. We used Google maps and got there without difficulty. We were thankful to have a 4WD and snow tires, because there was ice on parts of the road. Highly recommend the place!"

"Exceeding expectations. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to our needs and requests. The luxury of this place cannot be overstated. Perfectly appointed villa, private en-suite hot springs tub with a view of Yufu mountain and delicious breakfast and dinner spreads served in your villa… not to mention the in villa massages. Totally worth the cost. If you’re planning a trip to Yufuin, this is one of the best places to stay."
