"This hotel is long overdue an overhaul and this year it was nice to see they’ve started it on some rooms. Worth a visit but don’t expect plush 4/5 star hotel. It’s dated but they seem to be improving things. Staff are lovely, pool is small and the lady who runs the pool does so with an iron fist and is sometimes over zealous. "Overall a very comfortable experience. This is the second time we stayed in Macdonald's hotel, opted for half board and loved our meals everynight. Breakfast was great, would be nice to have meatfree options for vegetarians, even if not in buffet but can offer to prepare it if requested, still loved scones and beans and pancakes, kind and caring staff."

"Great hotel in a great location for Royal Deeside. All staff were very helpful and attentive. Rooms were lovely, clean & comfortable. All public rooms were cosy & comfortable and a great place to hang out with the log fire burning, giving it a great ambiance. "

"Came for the skiing over NY but not able to due to warm weather. Faculties at the hotel were great and it was clean and comfortable. It is within walking distance of all the restaurants and bars on the Main Street. Great location to travel to activities but a car is recommended. We would certainly recommend and will be returning in March. "
