"The hotel oozes character with timbered walls, wonderfully wonky floors and beautiful vaulted ceiling bedrooms. The large bed was very comfy. It was quiet and a pleasant 10-15 min walk mostly through the Cathedral grounds to the city centre. I’d definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend the hotel and it’s friendly staff. "

"We had a very good stay. We had our rooms upgraded free, so we had very good,comfortable rooms. The only very minor observation would be that there are no comfy chairs or sitting area. The bar is good, but the seats are not designed to be comfortable,especially for older people. This is a very minor thing, We ate in the restaurant and it was very good. The staff were very kind to our 90 year old uncle too"

"I was at this hotel for Business for 5 nights, but it was also a great place for after work leisure. The training room and surrounding refreshment areas were more than adequate and the environment is relaxing. Roger who was on the reception for the training rooms was very efficient and accommodating. Thank you The main reception and bar staff are very smart and professional. The leisure side was also very good for the gym, sauna , steam room and pool.. "

"Quick weekend visit, not sure i've ever been to a hotel where the staff have been more friendly. It was as if it was a long lost family reunion. The building is oldish and characterful in a good way. Our room was lovely and quiet, spacious too. I was going to give the bed a 5 star rating but then i thought i had to find something to criticise, the only thing was i heard a twang from a bed spring, that was it, perfect night's sleep apart from a "twang". I can heartily recommend this place to...

"Loved staying here. Fantastic from the start. On check in we were given a warm greeting at Hettie Bells, where you check-in, (they kindly allow free bag storage before the afternoon check in) and the complimentary homemade cookies were a lovely surprise and greatly appreciated on the cold November day. Room lovely decorated, fresh feeling and nice ensuite bathroom. Room not spacious but a big double bed, tv, chair and hangers for clothes, what more do you need. We slept well, nice and quiet....
