"Ranch-lile setting on edge of Vincon de la Vieja park. Pool is small but nice - great view of volcano. Room with 2 king beds was huge and clean. Would have liked more towels. Air conditioning was powerful. Not supposed to out toilet paper in toilet. Saw a ton of awesome birds off our back porch. Unfortunately, the staff building was behind us so we had to listen to their tv/radio. Food was passable at best. Staff service at meals was ok. Before you book one of their adventure tours, ask for...

"Rancho Humo was perfect for us: comfortable and peaceful accommodations on the grounds of a working ranch with a nature preserve, so I experienced Costa Rica without feeling like a tourist...even if of course we did take tours, with Kenneth pointing out birds, monkeys, crocodiles, green iguanas (Ticos probably think I'm funny to be excited about iguanas), and even a very cute couple of Pacific screech owls peeping down at us from a tree right outside the front door which I would not have noticed...

"The Lodge was spectacular and the staff friendly, professional, and helpful. Within hours of arrival, they knew our names. The room was large, private, clean and very comfortable with a large deck overlooking the rainforest, a huge bathroom and our own private hot tub. We did many activities through the lodge (hiking, yoga, night walk, bird watching tour) and the guides were excellent. The food was delicious and very fresh. Each dish was beautifully plated and generous. 5 stars!"

"Ian was an excellent host! He provided a friendly welcome and recommendations throughout our stay. The property itself is incredible - gardens, lake & animals all within the premises. The area itself is convenient - close to Arenal town and about 45-60 minutes from La Fortuna. Would recommend this stay to anyone looking for a tranquil, relaxing stay in Costa Rica. "
