"We stayed in the only balcony room which is a lovely big room . The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom . Nice powerful shower. We did eat in the restaurant and the meals we had were value for money . The staff were friendly and helpful ."

The Washington is my favourite to stay in — always low noise, always friendly staff, always comfy and clean beds. The building is a little worn down, inside and out, but if you’re looking for a consistently good, lower cost hotel to stay for a few days, this is the place."

"The food at The Walnut Tree is excellent as is the service and the staff. The hotel is showing its age a bit in the bedroom but it was nonetheless very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The room and the water in the bathroom were both very warm. The restaurant is worth a visit even if you’re not staying overnight. "

"Excellent location directly opposite the main train station. All major attractions are walkable. All staff were pleasant and efficient. Tea & coffee making and biscuits were great. A modern bathroom with excellent water pressure. Howe er the bed was a double bed with an uncomfortable old fashioned mattress. The restaurant was limited in its ability to handle all residents staying at the hotel. For example registering at 3 pm resulted in breakfast the following day being already booked out. Going...
