"Perfect location as we were going to the Gateshouse Theatre, which was just a few minutes walk. We did eat there and the food was nice. The room was ideal for the evening, the only negative was we couldn't turn the radiator off or down. Staff throughout were very helpful and friendly. "We have stayed at the Old Hall Hotel over many years. On each visit we have never been disappointed with anything the hotel offers. A stay at the hotel is a unique experience. Its long history, in a wonderful location, reflects an atmosphere and character not possible in a more modern hotel. Checking out this time, we were a little bothered to receive a bill for room service drinks which we hadn't had. The matter was resolved easily and pleasantly by the receptionist and wont affect our memory...

"I imagine this hotel was nice… 20 years ago when the photos advertising it were taken. Such a shame because it’s a nice building in a lovely area. I can’t speak for the original building itself, maybe those rooms are better kept, but we were placed in the outbuilding across the way and the rooms were incredibly tired and shoddy, with chipped paintwork and soiled carpet. "The photos do not do the rooms justice, i think they make the rooms look outdated but in reality they are lovely! The only thing that botheres us was that the carpet wasnt very clean and in the bathroom the bin was just left on the side and only half a roll of toilet roll. Didnt quite seem replenished. The rooms are cosy, clean overall, nicely thought through with that layout and very comfy beds. You cant hear any noises from outside and the service was brill!"

"The building itself seems old and is full of characters. Room doors are still open using old fashioned key, tiny tv screen like the old days. As I was only staying for 2 nights, there isn't a need for my room to be freshen up, though there isn't anywhere outside the door where you can hang the 'do not disturb' sign. The shower was a bit too tiny with the switch that switch outwards, you can easily switch off the shower by turning or turn up/down the heat."
