"The staff at this property are unbelievable. They go out of their way for you. The hotel has pretty much ski in, with access to the chair lift right outside the front door. Dinner is amazing, breakfast is not as good, but has plenty on offer with fruits, hot and cold options. The onsen downstairs was renovated whilst we were staying there and looks great, much more inviting. Access to the Hakuba Valley Shuttle just up the road, walkable. "Affordable place to stay in Matsumoto. Walkable distance from Matsumoto castle. Breakfast is good."

"The rooms were very clean and the location was excellent. We were a short walk from the train station and also a nice walk to the Matsumoto Castle. The only negative experience was the free breakfast which was styrofoam dinner trays, individually wrapped croissants and a Japanese style breakfast which we did not find appetising. We did not participate and ate elsewhere."

"The main thing to remember about this hotel is that it's old. You can see the wear and tear and stains over years of service e.g. things being taped together or dents in the bathtub. I hope one day they do a whole renovation or deep clean. It serves its purpose to have a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in. The good things is that it's right next to Nagano train station and a basic breakfast of bread, curry, coffee and juices is provided. "
