"Overall it was fine. The staff were friendly enough and breakfast was ok. Very interesting being in such an ancient building with sloping floors and ceiling. Also sound proofing not good so a little noisy at night from other guests and street outside. Managed a reasonable night's sleep despite this."

The Bar really lets the place down, it looks like an early 90’s conference area, completely out of keeping with the rest of the hotel. The room we had was disappointing, it was a Superior with Feature. It said it had living space, but it was a separate room with a bed in it and nothing else. The main room had way to much furniture in it, which left only the space round the bed. It was silly...

"Step back in time in The George! A throwback to a bygone age, when people were shorter and bathrooms were carpeted. It's a lovely, quirky old building; as long as you embrace the dated decor and topsy-turvy layout you'll have a perfectly fine stay. The staff are friendly and welcoming, check-in was easy, and the room was warm and comfortable. The car park is accessed from the front via a very narrow horse and carriage entrance.
