"I had assumed incorrectly that Zanzistar was on the beach, so when I arrived, I was really disappointed. I felt claustrophobic in the garden which is surrounded on all sides by high fences. The beach bar which is a 5-minute walk away was underwhelming and there were lots of people smoking. Unless you lay in the front row, in the sun, you couldnt really enjoy the sea view. "It was a pleasure to stay at the Demani Lodge. The Team was quite nice. All friendly and with a Smile. Lodges are very nice, Clean ,quiet. Amazing Garden area. "I did lots of research for my family's trip to Zanzibar because there did not seem to be a lot of accurate information online. I felt comfortable with my reservation at the Marea (fka Geo) and it turned out I was right. "The hotel was good choice as we had renter car and could go everywhere on the island. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The ocean was not the best beach in zanzibar but this is not the hotels fault. "

"Looks nothing like the photos. Pool was dirty and the girl "running" the reception was so uninterested in anything and barely smiled once. Was empty most of my stay and not comfortable for a single female traveller. Breakfast was not good, was just fruit and an egg. I wasn't able to fully open the door of my room because there was an extra bed in there that was supposed to be removed, but was not. Ashtrays around the pool looked like they had not been emptied for a month."
