"The owner was a super nice lady. We gave her a bag of laundry at 7pm and it was done when we checked out at 7am the next morning. She made us a nice breakfast and coffee. She has an overall friendly disposition. We will definitely stay here again."

"After checking in and leaving for lunch we could not enter the room for the door was locked. After hours the family arrived back to let us in. They were called back by neighboursi. Just saying "sorry" and we could not get back our stuff for the safe deposit at the reception, while the mother was out and got the key. So another half hour waiting. "The hotel is perfectly located - in the middle of the small Main Street and 2 minute walk from were the bus drops you off. The hotel was clean, the room was spacious but most of all the young lady on reception was absolutely amazing! Any questions about the place/what to do she would help you straight away. "Awesome place to have a laid back stay in Phong Nha. We went in January and were the only ones in the hotel. Originally we had booked 2 bunks but when we arrived they put us in 2 private rooms. Not sure if it was a mixup or an upgrade but it was a nice change after a month sharing rooms. "

"DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE GOOD REVIEWS: The Son River House is without question the worst place I’ve stayed. There is no staff on site besides a confused old Vietnamese man that sits in the courtyard sometimes. I tried to check in 3 times and nobody was there. Ended up waiting 2 hours to check in. In my “suite” was 3 beds, 2 of which had dirty sheets and pillows. The bathroom didn’t work. Shower head only had a few “holes” that sprayed water. Toilet was broke and had previous waste in it. I...
