"Wonderful, warm welcome. Room very comfortable. Few tweaks needed - drawers not easily accessible, hanging space a bit high. Wonderful shower - walk-in, such a treat as most hotels have showers inaccessible to anyone with any mobility issues. Surprisingly quiet even though on main road. Great for a couple of nights"

The packhorse route left the village approximately where Back Lane is now (to the right of The Willows) towards Underbank Hill crossroads where there were a choice of routes. Straight-on might take you to Bolsterstone and then on to Derbyshire, while turning right at the crossroads would lead on to the old salt trail across the Pennines and into Cheshire. 922030
